The PDE-3048/October Child Count, will open Monday, January 5, 2026 and is due Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 4:00 PM.

You may remember that PDE underwent a monitoring, which was conducted by the U.S. Department of Education, (ED) Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, Office School Support and Accountability.
-
As a result, PDE will re-evaluate institutions on an annual basis to ensure the facility can still meet the criteria to be included in the annual count. The purpose of an institution may change over time. This means that although an institution may have been included in the count for many years, they could change their purpose and no longer meet the criteria to be included. In other words, just because an institution has historically been included in the count does not guarantee they can be included in the future. It must continue to meet the criteria of a neglected or delinquent institution annually.
